Study Skills Consultation - For Students in Secondary School and beyond -(Age 11 upwards)

Study Skills Support is one of Brainwaves Education Ltd specialist areas, and as such Jane Dupree offers as part of her Consultancy Service,  individual Specialist Study Skills Support sessions to meet the needs of students working from keystage 3 through to A level and beyond.

Specialist Study Skills Support can help all students in all stages of education and it is important to note that many students, not only those with Dyslexia and related Specific Learning Difficulties experience difficulties with Study Skills and Organisation as they make the transition from Year 9 to studying for external exams.

These 1:1 specialist study skill sessions are tailored to meet the individual needs of the student and as such many cover a number of key areas, including;

  • Developing exam planning and Writing Skills
  • Improving Reading Comprehension
  • Revision Skills and Memory Techniques
  • Academic Writing
  • Note taking in Lessons
  •
    Establishing Priorities
  • Exam and Assessment Tasks
  • Reading for Research
  • Time Management and Organisation
  • Addressing Learning Anxiety

Study Skill Sessions are designed to encourage students to become independent learners and as such these consultations can be booked as and when required to fit with the exam and coursework requirements.  A Study Skills Support Session will typically be booked for 2 hours.

The fee for a 2 hour Study Skills Consultation is £100.  We ask for payment in advance for these bookings.

In some cases an extended programme of Study Skills Support may be beneficial for the student concerned and a regular weekly Study Skills Support is required. For these students, our sister organisation, The Dyslexia and Literacy Support Centre, is able to provide this specialist weekly support.  For more details go to Specialist Study Skills Support, (opens new window)
