This one-day course is exclusively for Teaching Assistants who work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to improve the learning outcomes of pupils who have indicators of dyslexia and/or dyspraxia, or who have already been assessed. In the light of the SEND Code of Practice 2014 it aims to develop knowledge and skills required to enable teaching assistants to take an active role in supporting pupils as part of the graduated approach in ensuring good outcomes for pupils.   It looks at how we ‘aim high’ whilst ensuring rigorous development of basic literacy and numeracy skills essential for success across in the core academic subjects in preparation for transfer from the Primary to Secondary school environment.
